AVAST has become one of the leading providers of antivirus technology. It offers a wide range of products, from personal computer to cluster servers protection.
Most antivirus labs include AVAST in their reports, which is a good sign. Nevertheless, it does not appear at the top of the lists, but passes the tests with an average grade in protection against malware.
I have been using AVAST software for the last two years with excellent results. Last year, most of the computers at this school, many of them using Kaspersky AV, were seriously attacked by viruses, but mine remained safe. This incident made me rely on this software ever since.
AVAST File Server Security has been designed to protect file servers from malware attacks. It covers an ample range of protection areas. Its user-friendly interface offers quick access to all program functions. Its real-time shields will protect you from attacks coming from malware in your file system, block intrusion from network connections, analyze incoming mail and instant messages, monitors downloads from P2P applications, scan web traffic, intercept all scripts executed on your system and use heuristic methods to warn you about suspicious activities. All of these options are easily configurable. In fact, you hardly ever need to change the default settings after installing this software.
Another feature is sandbox execution of applications. This means that every time AVAST finds a suspicious application, it will recommend that you should open it from the sandbox, thus, keeping your system safe.
In addition, AVAST File Server Security can be integrated with SharePoint servers, offering protection for collaborative web sites. A central console will notify the network administrator about possible threats.
Although rather powerful, AVAST does not make your computer crawl. It works quite unnoticeable in the background, and there is even a silent mode, which means this program will not disturb you with unwanted notices.
